O discurso e a prática da ação social das empresas: uma análise do Pólo Petroquímico do Município de Duque de Caxias sob a ótica de Pierre Bourdieu

This study aimed to analyze the discourses and practices of social action of Duque de Caxias Refinery (REDUC - PETROBRAS) in the Municipality of Duque de Caxias, from the theoretical perspective and field of symbolic power in Bourdieu (1989). The city of Duque de Caxias is divided into four districts, respectively: Centre, Champs Elysees, Imbariê and Xerém. The researcher decided to conduct further research in the area of the Champs Elysees, because the REDUC is present in this region. To achieve our objective, the researcher used a theoretical framework based on Pierre Bourdieu and his concepts of field, habitus, capital, social space and symbolic power. It was also used to study a theoretical base for social action and responsibility. In constructing the case study it used semi-structured interviews with several actors in the municipality of Duque de Caxias, as residents of the municipality, representatives of REDUC, participants or partners in REDUC in social action projects developed by the company, among others. In the case study, it was described region of the Champs Elysees, the detailed designs developed by REDUC, the knowledge of residents about the employees of this organization as well as her social role, her image and the environmental impacts caused by this. It was concluded from the presentation and analysis of all data what the REDUC REDUC has a symbol of big business in the region of Duque de Caxias, causing people to relate her actions to generate jobs and income. Besides, the company has a well-constructed discourse that her social responsibility activities contribute effectively to the local population, though when seen in practice, with residents of the municipality, there are few who have some knowledge or have participated in these projects, in other words, in practice there is little contribution of these projects to the local community.
