Writing of stories: a strategy to enhance the writing process in children

Resumo: This article exposes how the writing of stories constitutes a strategy to promote the development of the writing process of children. The study has a mixed-method, descriptive scope and got implemented from the analysis of the writings prepared by a group of 28 third-grade students at elementary school from an Educational Institution in Chía, Cundinamarca, Colombia. For this, two didactic units got designed, the purpose was articulate the teaching of logical-verbal processes and short stories writing as a methodological strategy, and an evaluation rubric was developed as an instrument of analysis and monitoring of the process of writing. The implemented writing process was reflected in the improvement of the quality of the texts. Keywords: Writing, stories, verbal-logical reasoning, learning, process.

El estudio tiene un método mixto, alcance descriptivo, y se realizó desde el análisis de los escritos elaborados por un grupo de 28 estudiantes de tercer grado de básica primaria de una Institución Educativa en Chía, Cundinamarca, Colombia. Para ello, se diseñaron dos unidades didácticas con el fin de implementar la escritura de cuentos como estrategia metodológica, y se elaboró una rúbrica de evaluación como instrumento de análisis y seguimiento del proceso escritural. El proceso implementado se reflejó en el mejoramiento de la calidad de los escritos.Este artigo expõe como a escrita de histórias constitui uma estratégia para promover o desenvolvimento do processo de escrita infantil. O estudo tem um método misto de escopo descritivo e foi implementado a partir da análise dos escritos elaborados por um grupo de 28 alunos do terceiro ano do ensino fundamental de uma instituição de ensino em Chía, Cundinamarca, Colômbia. Para isso, foram elaboradas duas unidades didáticas, tendo como objetivo articular o ensino de processos lógico-verbais e a escrita de contos como estratégia metodológica, e desenvolver uma rubrica de avaliação como instrumento de análise e acompanhamento do processo de escrita.
