Resumo: | This paper analyzes the official data on enrollments in special education courses, based on the Sinopses Estatísticas da Educação Básica (Statistical Synopis of Basic Education) conducted and divulged by INEP (National Institute of Educational Studies) in the 1997-2006period. The analysis was conducted based on collating the data. The following were noticed: an increase in the number of enrollments of special education students in the regular school system, especially in classes without specialized support; an increase of the number of enrollments in special institutions and a reduction in special classes; a low number of enrollments in early childhood education and secondary education; and a significant increase in the number of enrollments of students with visual, hearing, mental, and physical impairment in the regular educational system. |

El análisis se realizó a partir de la comparación mutua de los datos de inscripción en la educación especial. Se constató el aumento de la matrícula de educación especial en el sistema regular, sobre todo, clases sin apoyo especializado, la expansión de la matrícula en instituciones especiales y la reducción de las clases especiales, la baja matrícula en la educación infantil y educación secundaria y aumentarla matrícula importante de alumnos con discapacidades visuales, auditivas, mentales y físicos en el sistema educativo regular.O trabalho analisa os dados oficiais de matrícula em educação especial tomando por base as Sinopses Estatísticas da Educação Básica realizadas e divulgadas pelo INEP no período 1997-2006. A análise foi feita a partir do cotejamento dos dados de matrícula em Educação Especial.
