Narrative experiences: an account of health education

Resumo: We present a discussion based on the module "Meetings and Production of Narratives", an integral part of the curricular matrix of a university education in health. The study is based on reports about the practical dimension experienced by students, which includes listening to users linked to Health Units, with attention to health. During a semester, pairs of students conduct biweekly home visits to users, producing field diaries that will be the basis for the construction of a narrative. The process situates the narrative as a potent pedagogical resource for the awareness of oneself, the other and the concrete conditions of existence.

El estudio deriva de relatos referentes a la dimensión de la experiencia en campo vivenciada por los estudiantes, contemplando la escucha de usuarios / as vinculados a Unidades de Salud, con atención a las demandas de salud. Durante un semestre, dobles de estudiantes realizan visitas domiciliarias quincenales a los usuarios / as, produciendo diarios de campos que serán base para la construcción de una narrativa. El proceso sitúa la narrativa como recurso pedagógico potente, para la toma de conciencia de sí, del otro y de las condiciones concretas de existencia.Nous présentons une discussion basée sur le module “Réunions et Production de Récits”, une partie intégrante de la matrice curriculaire d'une éducation universitaire en santé. L'étude est basée sur des rapports sur l'étendue de l'expérience sur le terrain vécue par les étudiants, y compris l'écoute des usagers des unités de santé, offrant une attention aux demandes de santé. Pendant un semestre, des paires d'étudiants rendent visites toutes les deux semaines aux usagers, produisant des journal qui serviront de base à la construction d'un récit. Le processus situe le récit comme une ressource pédagogique puissante pour la conscience de soi, de l'autre et des conditions concrètes de l'existence.Apresentamos uma discussão com base no módulo “Encontros e Produção de Narrativas”, parte integrante da matriz curricular de uma formação universitária em saúde. O estudo decorre de relatos referentes à dimensão da experiência em campo vivenciada pelos estudantes, contemplando a escuta de usuários/as vinculados a Unidades de Saúde, com atenção às demandas de saúde. Durante um semestre, duplas de estudantes realizam visitas domiciliares quinzenais aos usuários/as, produzindo diários de campos que serão base para a construção de uma narrativa.
