Resumo: What has been the reaction of Latin American Political Science, and especially of Brazilian Political Science, to the processes of institutional ruptures of a new type suffered by several countries in the region in the last decade? Or, more concretely: how has the discipline been positioning itself against what happened in Honduras in 2009, in Paraguay in 2012, and in Brazil in 2016? What is the centrality of this theme in the research agenda of the political scientists of our countries? We seek to answer these questions by analyzing the texts published in the main journals of the area, as well as examining the articles presented at the Congresses of the Brazilian Association of Political Science (ABCP) and the Congresses of the Latin American Association of Political Science (ALACIP), looking for selected terms that are related to the theme. We start from the assumption that, faced with a new phenomenon that calls into question the survival of Latin American democracies, Political Science, always concerned precisely with the democratic question, should give the subject the prominence it deserves, thus putting it at the top of their academic and political concerns. The article confirms the hypothesis that the theme is almost absent in the production of Latin American political science.
