The article relates deforestation of the Amazon with the global environmental crisis and reinforces the importance of developing strategies for the preservation of this ecosystem, based on Latin American thinking. The purpose of the research is to answer the following research problem: In the context of the global environmental crisis, how would strategies based on Latin American thinking contribute to the preservation of the Amazon? Therefore, the objective of this work is to evaluate how strategies based on Latin American thinking contribute to the preservation of the Amazonian ecosystem. The research hypothesis suggests that strengthening local and strategic leaders with emphasis on Latin American countries is a viable project for the preservation of the Amazon ecosystem. In this sense, it is pointed out that, in addition to the actions of the states, the strengthening and integration of the other structures and organizations of the countries of Latin America are also articulated, so that they develop their preservation strategies of environmental protection with protagonism. The research was developed through the deductive method and the bibliographic research technique. In the end, the research hypothesis was corroborated, since the strengthening of local and strategic leaders with emphasis on Latin American countries is a viable project for the preservation of the Amazonian ecosystem.
