Between judges and colonels: A jusliterary dialogue with the regionalist novel “The Stocks”, by Bernardo Élis

Resumo: This article proposes a jusliterary analysis of the relationship between the constituted State and coronelism in the Brazilian border regions based on the novel The Stocks, by the regionalist Bernardo Élis. The objective is, through the plot, to demonstrate to what degree the literary work helps to explain the existing contradiction in the pre-capitalist models of production taking into account the predominant structures of domination in the agrarian environment. For this, it is based on the writings of the sociologist and professor Décio Saes, correlating his categories of analysis with the plot brought in the fictional narrative of the author from Goiás. Initially, an attempt is made to contextualize the publication of the novel O Tronco in the paradigm of the Brazilian agrarian issue, so that, then, it is possible to delimit such categories and their dialogue with the literary text so that, finally, critically analyze to what degree the literary work helps to understand the role of the legal phenomenon in the contradictory relationship between coronelismo and the bourgeois state. It is, therefore, a research developed mainly by bibliographic review and documental consultation, whose collected data are object of qualitative analysis.

Este artículo propone un análisis jusliterario de la relación entre Estado constituido y coronelismo en las regiones fronterizas brasileñas a partir de la novela El Cepo, del regionalista Bernardo Élis. El objetivo es, a través de la trama, demostrar en qué medida la obra literaria ayuda a explicar la contradicción existente en los modelos de producción precapitalistas teniendo en cuenta las estructuras de dominación predominantes en el medio agrario. Para ello, se basa en los escritos del sociólogo y profesor Décio Saes, correlacionando sus categorías de análisis con la trama traída en la narrativa ficcional del autor de Goiás. Inicialmente, se intenta contextualizar la publicación de la novela O Tronco en el paradigma de la cuestión agraria brasileña, para luego poder delimitar dichas categorías y su diálogo con el texto literario para, finalmente, analizarlo críticamente. en qué medida la obra literaria ayuda a comprender el papel del fenómeno jurídico en la relación contradictoria entre el coronelismo y el estado burgués. Se trata, por tanto, de una investigación desarrollada principalmente por revisión bibliográfica y consulta documental, cuyos datos recogidos son objeto de análisis cualitativo. O presente artigo propõe uma análise jusliterária da relação entre o Estado constituído e o coronelismo nas regiões fronteiriças brasileiras tendo por base o romance O Tronco, do regionalista Bernardo Élis. O objetivo é, por meio da trama, demonstrar em que grau a obra literária ajuda a explicar a contradição existente nos modelos pré-capitalistas de produção tendo em conta as estruturas de dominação predominantes no ambiente agrário. Para tal, se baseia nos escritos do sociólogo e professor Décio Saes, correlacionando suas categorias de análise com o enredo trazido na narrativa ficcional do autor goiano. Inicialmente, intenta-se contextualizar a publicação do romance O Tronco no paradigma da questão agrária brasileira, para, em seguida, ser possível delimitar tais categorias e o seu diálogo com o texto literário de modo que, por fim, se analise criticamente em que grau a obra literária ajuda a entender o papel do fenômeno jurídico na relação contraditória entre o coronelismo e o Estado burguês. Trata-se, portando, de pesquisa desenvolvida principalmente por revisão de bibliográfica e consulta documental, cujos dados levantados são objeto de análise qualitativa.
