The lack of security in Brazil is a serious problem that needs urgent action by the State and its rulers to reverse the chronic condition of violence plaguing the country and reaches more intensely the poor and young, mostly black youth. Thus, this article aims to make a theoretical and reflexive analysis about the violence that affects Brazilian society, particularly black youth, and that racism has one of its main support base. It starts from the assumption that racism, constitutes one of the main factors influencing the high rates of violence in the country, the Brazilian media as a major trivialization means of violence, reproduction, recruitment and maintenance of racism and racist practices and of discrimination and prejudice towards groups and individuals historicallystigmatized, oppressed and discriminated against in Brazilian society, like the black /as.
