This article aims to propose a dialogue between José Geraldo de Sousa Junior and Franco Basaglia based on the relationship between the assumptions of O Direito Achado na Rua and the propositions of Democratic Psychiatry. In addition to contributing to critical reflection on the practices and foundations of Psychiatry, this dialogue also supports the construction of new lenses to see the Law and its forms of realization. The production of engaged knowledge is observed, which reflects on the social praxis constituted in the common experience of struggle for justice and rights. It is noteworthy that the ideas of these intellectuals bring the importance of visibility and organization of actors who are on the sidelines or in opposition to the spaces constituted for their traditional expression and strengthen the project that aims at social transformation.
