Guests connected? A study on the importance of wifi in the hotel context

Resumo: The wi-fi service provided by hotels is a current need of hotel guests, but hotels seem not to be providing this service along with the perception of quality of guests. This research aims to demonstrate to the academy and the current market scenario, the importance of wi-fi in the current hotel context. The study was divided into three stages. In the first, 111929 thousand online comments about São Paulo Hotels were collected and analysed using TLAB Software to verify the main commented attributes about wi-fi and internet. The second stage consisted of applying online questionnaires with 83 people who have already stayed in hotels and the third stage consisted of applying an online questionnaire with eight hotel managers to compare the data with those collected in steps 1 and 2. The data collected demonstrate how important wi-fi internet is to hotels. 51.9% of hotel guests find wi-fi internet very important within the hotel

Esta investigación tiene como objetivo analizar la importancia de proporcionar wifi de calidad en el contexto actual del hotel. El estudio se dividió en tres etapas. En el primero, se recogieron y analizaron 111.929 mil comentarios en línea sobre los hoteles de São Paulo utilizando el software TLAB para verificar los principales atributos comentados sobre wifi e internet. La segunda etapa consistió en aplicar cuestionarios en línea con 83 personas que ya se habían hospedado en hoteles y la tercera etapa consistió en aplicar un cuestionario en línea con 8 gerentes de hotel para comparar los datos con los recopilados en los pasos 1 y 2. Esta pesquisa tem o objetivo de analisar a importância da oferta de wi-fi de qualidade no contexto hoteleiro atual. O estudo foi dividido em três etapas. Na primeira, foram coletados 111.929 mil comentários online sobre Hotéis de São Paulo e analisados com utilização do Software TLAB para verificação dos principais atributos comentados sobre wi-fi e internet. A segunda etapa consistiu em aplicação de questionários online com 83 pessoas que já se hospedaram em hotéis e a terceira etapa consistiu em aplicação de questionário online com 8 gestores de hotéis para confrontação dos dados com os que foram coletados na etapa 1 e 2.
