Resumo: For coping with the Coronavirus Disease-19 (COVID-19) pandemic, reorientation of hospital institutions is required, so that health care meets the growing demands, without jeopardizing the quality of care and the safety of users. In this sense, this investigation aimed to discuss the conceptual aspects of quality management in health, correlating its importance for coping with the pandemic of COVID-19 by hospital organizations. To this end, a narrative review of the scientific literature was carried out at Scientific Electronic Library Online (Scielo), Pumed and Google Scholar. The strengthening of health quality management systems in hospital organizations, as well as the greater use of their tools and methodologies, is presented by the scientific literature as fundamental strategies for coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. The little production of knowledge about health quality management in coping with the current crisis is problematic, since the sharing of information by hospital organizations is a crucial factor for the reversal of the contemporary public calamity.
