This work shows important examples of architecture where the structural system played a key role in determining the architectural design, with examples of works from architects such as Affonso Reidy, Paulo Mendes da Rocha and Joao Figueiras Lima, Oscar Niemeyer and others, who knew just how to explore the relationship architecture- structure. On these works is evident the direct relationship between form and structure, demonstrating the importance in the defining the structural system to the plastic result of the architecture and the effective participation of calculating engineers since the conception of designing projects. Through analyzes with the aid of computer programs, which allowed the understanding of how the choices of structural solutions by architect and engineer during the design process helped achieve monumental and innovative aesthetic results.
