Resumo: Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) has been very widespread in academia and in some industrial sectors, including the Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) industry. From this perspective, it can be seen as a new discipline of design practice, but still needs to be adapted to the typical design process of the market. This research aimed to design guidelines for the dissemination of the LCA for market practice. First, a bibliographic research was carried out to identify different computational tools and the processes carried out in the literature. In order to assess license costs, a survey was conducted with market suppliers. We found that the initial stages of the design process are the most suitable for the use of the LCA. When the costs are assessed, we noticed that the most viable path tends to be with the use of tools integrated with BIM, preferably with the use of plugins. This research brings as its main contribution the fact that it is more professional oriented to the AEC industry. Therefore, our finds can help the diffusion of LCA, and, consequently enable a better management of environmental impacts in the life cycle of buildings.
