Method of evaluating the state of conservation of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures

Resumo: Symbol of the modern trend in the 20th century, exposed concrete is related to a growing concern associated with failures in its maintenance, conservation and conditions of use. Despite the topic importance, there is an insufficiency in studies on integrated and disseminated approaches on systematized methodologies for evaluating these structures. The objective of this work is to propose a method for evaluating the state of conservation of prefabricated reinforced concrete structures, using the FMECA methodology – Analysis of Failure Modes, Effects and Criticality as a reference. Three steps were systematized: system characterization; conservation status analysis; and risk ranking. The prefabricated reinforced concrete pillars of the Instituto Central de Ciências Norte of the University of Brasília were chosen as an object of study due to the relevance of the building, having as a characteristic innovative construction process in the scenario of modern Brazilian architecture. The results showed a moderate level of criticality in relation to the 168 inspected pillars. The analyzes revealed a precariousness in the maintenance, not only of the pillars, but of the entire building. It was concluded that the proposed method meets the objective proposed by the present work.

Símbolo de la tendencia moderna del siglo XX, el hormigón visto se relaciona con una creciente preocupación asociada a las fallas en su mantenimiento, conservación y condiciones de uso. Apesar de la importancia del tema, existe una insuficiencia en los estudios sobre enfoques integrados y difundidos sobre metodologías sistematizadas para la evaluación de estas estructuras. El objetivo de este trabajo es proponer un método para evaluar el estado de conservación de estructuras prefabricadas de hormigón armado, utilizando como referencia la metodología FMECA – Análisis de Modos de Falla, Efectos y Criticidad. Se sistematizaron tres pasos: caracterización del sistema; análisis del estado de conservación; y clasificación de riesgos. Los pilares prefabricados de hormigón armado del Instituto Central de Ciências Norte de la Universidad de Brasilia fueron elegidos como objeto de estudio debido a la relevancia del edificio, teniendo como característica procesos constructivos innovadores en el escenario de la arquitectura moderna brasileña. Los resultados mostraron un nivel moderado de criticidad en relación a los 168 pilares inspeccionados. Los análisis revelaron una precariedad en el mantenimiento, no solo de los pilares, sino de todo el edificioSe concluyó que el método propuesto cumple con el objetivo planteado por el presente trabajo. Apesar da importância do tema, percebe-se uma insuficiência em estudos sobre abordagens integradas e disseminadas sobre metodologias sistematizadas de avaliação dessas estruturas. O objetivo deste trabalho é propor um método de avaliação do estado de conservação de estruturas pré-fabricadas de concreto armado, tendo como referencial a metodologia FMECA – Análise dos Modos de Falhas, Efeitos e Criticidade. Foram sistematizadas três etapas: caracterização do sistema; análise do estado de conservação; e hierarquização de riscos. Os pilares pré-fabricados de concreto armado do Instituto Central de Ciências Norte da Universidade de Brasília foram escolhidos como objeto de estudo devido a relevância da edificação, tendo como característica processos construtivos inovadores no cenário da arquitetura moderna brasileira. Os resultados exibiram o nível de criticidade moderado em relação aos 168 pilares inspecionados. As análises revelaram uma precariedade na manutenção, não somente dos pilares, mas de toda edificação. Concluiu-se que o método proposto atende ao objetivo proposto pelo presente trabalho.
