Por ser uma planta de um teor emético considerado alto, foi um vegetal muito procurado por exportadores, e por poaeiros que conheciam as matas da região de Barra do Bugres, pois todos tinham muito interesse em extrair suas raízes para que a mesma fosse usada para fins farmacológicos, época de extração que foi a responsável pelo povoamento do Município. Esta extração da planta também contribuiu para o sofrimento de muitas famílias da região, por ter que submeter a mulher a cuidar dos filhos no tempo que os homens adentravam a mata a procura da poaia. Sensível, sua cultura só se mostrará promissora se cultivada em seu lugar de origem ou em ambientes similares ao outro com aspecto idêntico. Para tanto a historia do Assentamento Antonio Conselheiro, Assentamento este que foi realizado parte da pesquisa, pode se confundir com a história da Escola Estadual Paulo Freire, conquistada através de muitas lutas frente a órgãos públicos e devido a toda esta conquista e modelo de trabalhar com projetos diferenciados, ela hoje se caracteriza como escola do e no Campo. Para que estudantes e famílias dos mesmos continuem nos seus sítios, uma opção é o cultivo in vitro da poaia que possibilitaria ao Assentamento, gerar renda aos assentados que ali residem. Devido o mesmo está envolto por um sistema do agronegócio que valoriza o cultivo de soja, algodão, açúcar e produção de álcool, sobreviver apenas da produção da agricultura familiar, muitas vezes torna-se um verdadeiro desafio. Desta forma, muitos acabam por submeterem-se ao trabalho assalariado ou até abandonando a terra e migrando para a cidade. _________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis paper aims to present a study about the Psychotria ipecacuanha popularly known as ipecac, a medicinal plant. Being a plant of a content emetic considered high, was much sought after by a vegetable exporters, and poaeiros who knew the forests of the region of Barra do Bugres because everyone had much interest in extracting roots for it to be used for purposes pharmacological, extraction time that was responsible for the settlement of the county. This extraction plant also contributed to the suffering of many families in the region, by having to refer the woman to take care of the children in time that men got into the woods to search for ipecac. Sensitive, their culture only show promising if grown in their place of origin or in other similar environments with identical appearance. For both the history of the settlement Antonio Counselor, Settlement that this part of the research was conducted, may be confused with the history of the State School Paulo Freire, won through many struggles against public and due to all this achievement and work with model different projects, she now characterizes as the school and in the Field. For students and families of the same continue in their sites, an option is in vitro cultivation of ipecac would allow the settlement, to generate income settlers living there. Because it is surrounded by a system of agribusiness that values the cultivation of soybeans, cotton, sugar and alcohol production, the only surviving family farming, often becomes a real challenge.
