Objetivo: Verificar o perfil epidemiológico dos pacientes que evoluem com lesão renal aguda e sem lesão renal aguda no cenário de terapia intensiva. Método: Estudo observacional caso-controle (retrospectivo) e quantitativo, desenvolvido na UTI do Hospital Regional de Ceilândia. Amostra composta de 105 pacientes, sendo 31 controles e 74 casos. No grupo controle, foram incluídos pacientes internados com idade superior ou igual a 18 anos e pacientes com função renal normal e no estágio 1 da classificação KDIGO. Foram excluídos pacientes com história de insuficiência renal crônica e pacientes com a função renal nos estágios 4 e 5 da classificação KDIGO para doença renal crônica. No grupo caso, foram incluídos, pacientes internados com idade superior ou igual a 18 anos e pacientes que evoluíram após admissão na UTI com a função renal nos estágios 2 e 3 da classificação KDIGO. Foram excluídos pacientes com função renal normal. Cada paciente foi acompanhado por sete dias. Para descrição dos resultados foram calculadas as frequências relativas e absolutas, média e desvio padrão e mediana (percentil 25 e 75). Para a comparação entre grupos foi aplicado o teste de Mann-Whitney, Qui-quadrado e de Fisher. O resultado foi considerado significativo quando p<0,05. Resultados: O sexo masculino predominou no grupo que evoluiu com LRA. O grupo controle e caso apresentaram características clínicas similares. O choque séptico foi o diagnóstico mais frequente tanto no grupo caso como no controle. A maioria dos pacientes do grupo caso evoluíram com maior comprometimento da função renal, sendo 63,5% estratificados com falência renal pela classificação KDIGO. Constatou-se que a obesidade mostrou relação estatística significante com a ocorrência de LRA, assim como o uso de drogas vasoativas (p=0,002). O óbito acometeu mais da metade (51,4 %) dos pacientes com LRA. Conclusão: O perfil epidemiológico dos pacientes caracterizou-se por uma tendência a idade avançada. Objective: To determine the epidemiological profile of patients who develop acute kidney injury and without acute kidney injury in the intensive care unit. Method: Observational case-control (retrospective) and quantitative, developed in the ICU of the Regional Hospital of Ceilândia. Sample of 105 patients, 31 controls and 74 cases. The control group included patients admitted with age greater than or equal to 18 years and patients with normal renal function and stage 1 KDIGO classification. Patients with a history of chronic renal failure and patients with renal function in stages 4 and 5 of KDIGO rating for chronic kidney disease. In the case group were included patients admitted with age greater than or equal to 18 years and patients who progressed after admission to the ICU with kidney function in stages 2 and 3 of KDIGO classification. Patients with normal renal function. Each patient was followed by seven days. For a description of the results were calculated the absolute and relative frequencies, mean and standard deviation and median (25th and 75th percentiles). For comparison between groups was applied the Mann-Whitney test, chi-square and Fisher. The result was considered significant when p <0.05. Results: Males predominated in the group who developed AKI. The control group and the case had similar clinical characteristics. Septic shock was the most frequent diagnosis in both the case group and in control. Most patients in group case evolved with major renal impairment, with 63.5% identified with kidney failure by KDIGO classification. It was found that obesity showed statistically significant relation with the occurrence of AKI, and the use of vasoactive drugs (p = 0.002). Death befell more than half (51.4%) of patients with AKI. Conclusion: The epidemiological profile of patients was characterized by a tendency to age.
