Com a disseminação de sites e aplicativos de rede social, os regimes de visibilidade e vigilância assumem um papel importante na constituição dos modos de ser e estar no mundo. As lógicas da performance e do espetáculo incitam o sujeito a governar a si mesmo, a fim de aparentar ser sempre bem-sucedido e feliz, de acordo com uma moral que dita ser preciso aparecer para ser. O dever de apresentar atributos associados à felicidade, sejam no que se refere à relação com o próprio corpo ou ao estatuto do olhar do outro, atua na forma como o indivíduo exibe a sua intimidade nos meios online. A proposta deste trabalho é estudar como se configura a felicidade para os usuários jovens do Instagram. A partir de um arcabouço teórico-metodológico diverso e transdisciplinar, se realizou uma pesquisa exploratória bibliográfica e, posteriormente, uma pesquisa de campo com inspiração etnográfica, a fim de analisar como o jovem usuário do Instagram constrói a si mesmo na Internet e engendra sua noção de felicidade, permeada pela busca ao reconhecimento e à aprovação de quem o observa. With the dissemination social networking websites and apps, visibility and surveillance systems play an important role in the constitution of the ways of being in the world. The performance and spectacle logics encourage the individual to govern themselves in order to appear to be successful and happy at all times, according to a morality that dictates that one needs to appear for the purpose of being. The obligation to exhibit attributes associated with happiness, whether it regards the relationship with one’s body or the statute of the other’s gaze, acts in the way the individual displays their privacy in online media. The purpose of this paper is to study the configuration of happiness for young users of Instagram. From diverse and transdisciplinary a theoretical and methodological framework, a bibliographical exploratory research was conducted, followed by an ethnographic inspired field research, in order to analyze how the young Instagram user builds themselves on the Internet and engineers their notion of happiness, permeated by the pursuit of acknowledgment and approval from their beholder.
