Situado na região central do Brasil, seu território alcança 210 milhões de hectares, ou dois milhões e 100 mil Km², o que representa quase um quarto do território nacional. O Cerrado, em suas diversas manifestações ecossistêmicas, tem sido estigmatizado por preconceitos e pelo desconhecimento da complexidade natural que o torna único em nosso planeta. O histórico de ocupação humana no Bioma, embora extenso, tem como importante elemento catalisador a construção de Brasília e os programas governamentais voltados ao agronegócio, concentrados nas décadas de setenta e oitenta do século vinte. Nesse contexto, incidiu sobre o termo “cerrado” um discurso de exclusão, orientador das políticas de ocupação do espaço físico e explicitado no momento constituinte de 1988, quando se estabeleceu uma hierarquia entre os biomas brasileiros ainda não devidamente combatida e cotejada com outros discursos que dignificam a imensa savana nacional. Naquela oportunidade, o termo “cerrado” foi omitido do elenco de Biomas categorizados como Patrimônio Nacional no § 4º do artigo 225 da Constituição Federal. A vocação agrícola do Cerrado consolida-se com a presença do agricultor moderno e ao se estabelecerem os processos científicos de aproveitamento dos solos. It is located in central Brazil and it occupies an area of 210 million hectares (or 2,100 million square kilometers). Such area accounts for almost a quarter of the national territory. The Cerrado, in its various ecosystemic nuances, has been stigmatized by pre-conceived concepts and the lack of knowledge surrounding is natural complexity and its uniqueness on our planet. The background of human territorial occupation in the Brazilian Cerrado, although extensive, was brought about by the building of Brasilia. The Governmental Agribusiness programs performed in the 1970s and 1980s may also be identified as catalyzer to the occupation in the area. In so being it, a discourse of “exclusion” has always been closely related to the Cerrado areas, as it may be seen on the nature of its occupation and on the making of the 1988 Brazilian Constitution. The Brazilian Federal Constitution established a hierarchy amongst the national biomes. Such hierarchy has not been fully contested or contemplated by other discourses which dignify the greatness of the Brazilian Savannah. In 1988, the term “Cerrado” was omitted from list of Biomes that had been catalogued as National Patrimony. This Biomes were part of § 4 of Article 225 of the Federal Constitution. The Cerrado vocation to agriculture grows strong each day, as modern agribusiness men establish themselves and consolidate their presence in the area with scientific utilization of the soil. However, the various social factors related to the Brazilian Savannah must fulfill their role as facilitators of a better understanding between monocultural systems of production and forms of sustainable utilization of the natural resources of such region.CerradoBiomasBrasil.
