Objetiva retratar o conceito e a operacionalização do trabalho social com famílias na assistência social, destacando seus limites e possibilidades. Foi utilizada a metodologia de pesquisa qualitativa que se deu por meio do estudo exploratório e do mapeamento e análise das publicações acerca do trabalho social com famílias. A pesquisa realizou uma análise das publicações existentes acerca do trabalho social com famílias em bases de dados e revistas indexadas da área do Serviço Social. Além disso, verificou a escassez de produções com centralidade na família e no trabalho realizado com estas, apesar de se constituírem como objeto histórico de trabalho da assistência social. Como resultado da pesquisa observou-se que não existem muitas publicações especificamente no âmbito do trabalho social com famílias realizado na assistência social, as publicações são escassas e incipientes, sendo necessário aprofundar a produção de conhecimento nessa área. ____________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThis work has as a guiding the social work with families conducted by social workers in the field of social welfare. It aims to represent the concept and operationalization of social work with families on social welfare, highlighting its limits and possibilities. It was used a qualitative research methodology, that was through the study and exploration of the mapping and analysis of publications about social work with families was used. The survey allowed for an examination of existing about social work with families in a database and indexed journals of the field of Social Work publications. In addition, allowed demonstrated the lack of productions with centrality in family and work with them, even though they constitute the object of social workers.
