A presente monografia trata, em sua primeira parte, da noção de patrimônio e do seu desenvolvimento até os dias atuais, apresenta sucintamente os documentos e a legislação relacionada ao patrimônio e ao turismo cultural e sustentável nos âmbitos internacional e nacional. Na segunda parte, examina a inscrição de Brasília na Lista do Patrimônio Mundial, estuda a Convenção do Patrimônio Mundial e a problemática da preservação da Capital Federal, bem urbano, maior obra da Arquitetura Moderna, concretização dos postulados da Carta de Atenas de 1933, cidade-monumento ainda em desenvolvimento e que sofre pressões típicas das cidades latino-americanas. The first part of this monograph briefly outlines the development of the idea of 'heritage', succinctly outlining the documents and laws relevant to Heritage Sites and to sustainable cultural tourism, both domestic and international. The second part examines the designation of Brasilia as a World Heritage site, the World Heritage Convention, and the problem of preserving the capital of Brazil as a modern urban center, a prime example of Modern Architecture, the epitome of the 1933 Charter of Athens, and a city-monument still under construction and suffering the typical pressures of a Latin American city.
