Childhood in pandemic times: what about the curriculum and pedagogical practices?

Resumo: Covid-19 impacted family, economic-labour, socio-cultural daily life, including childhood. Focused on the confinement period and on two qualitative studies in Brazil and Portugal, we analysed: i) the official measures and recommendations of COVID-19 for early childhood education (documentary research); ii) how the curriculum and pedagogical practices were reconfigured by Brazilian educators (interviews) and by Portuguese educators (publications on Facebook). Without seeking generalizations or comparisons between different socio-political, educational, and professional realities, the value of early childhood education on child well-being is reflected and the (im)possibilities of developing curriculum and pedagogical practices in the distance and in the technological impersonality are discussed.

Enfocadas en el período de confinamiento y basadas en dos estudios cualitativos en Brasil y Portugal, analizamos: i) las medidas y recomendaciones oficiales de la COVID-19 para la educación infantil (investigación documental); ii) algunas formas en las que los educadores brasileños (entrevistas) y los portugueses (publicaciones en Facebook) reconfiguraron el currículo y las prácticas pedagógicas. Sin buscar generalizaciones o comparaciones entre diferentes realidades sociopolíticas, educativas y profesionales, se refleja el valor de la educación infantil sobre el bienestar infantil y se discuten las (im)posibilidades de desarrollar el currículum y las prácticas pedagógicas a la distancia e en la impersonalidad tecnológica.A Covid-19 impactou quotidianos familiares, econômico-laborais, socioculturais, incluindo a infância. Focadas no período de confinamento e em dois estudos qualitativos no Brasil e em Portugal, analisamos: i) medidas e recomendações oficiais da COVID-19 para a educação infantil (pesquisa documental); ii) como o currículo e as práticas pedagógicas foram reconfigurados por educadoras brasileiras (entrevistas) e educadoras portuguesas (publicações no Facebook).
