Resumo: This article focuses on general questions related to the video technique, as used in Developmental Psychology.Such questions arc relevant, since there is an increasing tendency to use video resources in social development research.Therefore, the discussion is centered on the use of video, especially when social interactions and relationships are the units ofanalysis. The importance of the video for solving problems related to the theoretical perspective of the research is discussed,as well as the need to calculate reliability scores.

Tais considerações se justificam, na medida em que se observa uma tendência cada vez mais crescente de utilização dos recursos de vídeo em trabalhos de pesquisa, especialmente na área de desenvolvimento social. Assim, são focalizadas questões sobre o uso de vídeo quando as interações e relações sociais se constituem na unidade de análise.
