Resumo: The objective of the present study was to determine thepsychometric qualities of the Aptitude Scale (B-1) of the CMI of J. O. Crites.The sample was composed of 600 male and female students from the8th grade of elementary school to the 3rd year of High school, aged 13 to18 years. The date were collected by collective application of the scaleand analyzed statistically. The results indicated that, despite some evidenceabout the reliability of the subscales, there is a need to revise themowing to their low homogeneity and total absence of discriminative sensitivityto variables of a temporal nature. We conclude that adaptations ofthe scale are needed to ensure their value as a diagnostic instrument inthe practice of vocational counseling in Brazil.

O. Crites. A amostra foi constituída de 600 estudantes de 8a série do 1° grau à 3a série do 2° grau, masculinos e femininos, de 13 a 18 anos de idade. Os dados foram coletados através de aplicações coletivas da escala e submetidos a tra­tamento estatístico. Os resultados indicaram que apesar de algumas evi­dências sobre a confiabilidade das subescalas, há necessidade de rever a composição das mesmas, que mostraram baixa homogeneidade e ne­nhuma sensibilidade discriminativa às variáveis de natureza temporal.
