Empirical Analysis of Trends in Scientific Production on Coping (SciELO, 1993/2012)

Resumo: Coping indicates an intentional action, physical or mental, initiated in response to a perceived stressor, addressed to external circumstances or internal states. The research aimed to obtain systematic survey of what has been studied and discussed in the scientific production about coping, through the analysis of articles published in journals indexed to the DatabaseSciELO, between 1993 and 2012 (N=294). It was observed a quantitative increasing of the productions in the investigated period and they were predominantly reported in journals of psychology. Female and groupal authorship, developing empirical studies were significant. Organic disorders, hospitals and health service users were more investigated and discussed. The terminology is not always focused coping as a specific theoretical framework, which requires attention of the reader.
