Resumo: Former studies suggest evidences of the signification processes of babies, instigating to verify its occurrence. These processes were investigated by case studies of babies (5-12 m.o), attending a daycare center. Empirical data were gatheredusing interviews and video-tape scenes, which were microgenetically analyzed, based on the Network of Meanings perspective.Behaviors that indicated possible signification processes were selected and analyzed. Four cases are presented. Signification(as irritation, ask for or take an object) and signification means (like stretching the arms, open and spin the palm hand) wereverified and considered as co-constructed since birth, though not always recognized by partners. The role of embodiment withinthe processes is highlighted. Results unfold issues regarding infant development, which demand new research incursions.

Results unfold issues regarding infant development, which demand new research incursions.
