Resumo: Analyze the development of reading competence in the field of Information Science, reflecting the constitution of a training network of this competence interrelated with the information literacy. Through exploratory and descriptive research, characterized as the procedures as bibliographic and field observation, it selects a set of scientific publications that meet the collaborative actions, directed to investigative and formative processes. Identifies that in the information and knowledge society, the reader subject is asked for a reading competence that derives from the combination of skills and techniques in the field of information (information literacy), as well as the acquisition of cognitive skills and attitudes related to writing together with the mobilization of socially constituted reading practices (literacy). Given the power of information flows disseminated in cyberspace, enhanced by the multimodal language (textual, sound, imagery, etc.), it is emphasized that the formation of competence in collaborative networks, given the characteristic of the digital age, must increasingly extrapolate the physical space that institutions such as libraries, schools, community spaces, universities and other environments, given that a large part of contemporary society is excluded and does not use the various types of supports and technology tools commonly available.
