Narratives about the RDA: impressions of UFMG cataloguers

Resumo: This article presents part of the results of a master's thesis with the aim of understanding how catalogers from UFMG libraries perceive the RDA. The theoretical foundation and its outline for the construction of the thematic block on the General Impression of the RDA standard, the categories and subcategories created, the narratives and impressions of the cataloguers, with exploratory, descriptive, qualitative, bibliographic objectives, using the semi-structured interview and the content analysis. The results point to the limited understanding of the AACR2 resource description in relation to the RDA, the limited understanding of the continuation of the AACR2 with the RDA, little knowledge of the FRBR groups and the correspondence of RDA data with other coding schemes. This research made it possible to understand how catalogers from UFMG libraries are perceiving some aspects of the RDA standard, requiring knowledge of the rules, the need for learning and continued study of the standard and its practical demonstration.

El fundamento teórico y su esquema para la construcción del bloque temático sobre la Impresión General del estándar RDA, las categorías y subcategorías creadas, las narrativas e impresiones de los catalogadores, con objetivos exploratorios, descriptivos, cualitativos, bibliográficos, utilizando la semi- entrevista estructurada y análisis de contenido. Los resultados apuntan a la comprensión limitada de la descripción del recurso AACR2 en relación con la RDA, la comprensión limitada de la continuación de la AACR2 con la RDA, el escaso conocimiento de los grupos FRBR y la correspondencia de los datos RDA con otros esquemas de codificación. Esta investigación permitió comprender cómo los catalogadores de las bibliotecas de la UFMG están percibiendo algunos aspectos del estándar RDA, requiriendo el conocimiento de las reglas, la necesidad de aprendizaje y estudio continuo del estándar y su demostración práctica.Este artigo apresenta parte dos resultados de uma dissertação de mestrado com o objetivo de entender como os catalogadores das bibliotecas da UFMG percebem à RDA. É apresentada a fundamentação teórica e seu esboço para contrução do bloco temático sobre a Impressão geral da norma RDA, as categorias e subcategorias criadas, as narrativas e impressões dos catalogadores, tendo objetivos exploratórios, descritivos, qualitativos, bibliográficos, utilizando a entrevista semiestruturada e a análise de conteúdo. Os resultados apontam a limitação de entendimento de descrição de recursos da AACR2 em relação à RDA, limitação de entendimento da continuação da AACR2 com a RDA, pouco conhecimento dos grupos FRBR e da correspondência de dados RDA com outros esquemas de codificação.
