Resumo: The author discusses the concept of marginality and criticizes certain perspectives of analysis in considering the possibility of a new theoretical construction for the study of political manifestations of the “reserve army”. A case study involving the political action of unemployed workers in Brasilia between 1962 and 1964 leads to a contribution to a new theoretical analysis of the articulation between reserve and active work force.

L’étude d’un cas spécifique d’action politique de chômeurs à Brasília entre 1962 et 1964 conduit à une contribution pour une perspective d’analyse de I’articulation entre “reserve” et “active”.Partindo de uma discussão sobre a marginalidade e da crítica a outras abordagens, considera-se a possibilidade de uma nova construção teórica acerca da manifestação política da classe operária.
