Resumo: This paper explains, under a periodical point of view, cultural themes on Brazilian social thought. It considers the theoretical basis in wich the analysed texts are grounded. It also takes the issue under the standpoint of a Sociology of Culture which takes into account the diversity of aspects of cultural system.Conceptual analysis, studies on cultural manifestations, interpretations of social structure under the view of cultural dimension, and essays on Brazilian culture are proposed.For each period of the formation, institutionalization and consolidation of sociological thought, representative writings are pointed out such as those of Silvio Romero, Gilberto Freyre e Antônio Cândido.Particular attention is given to sociological writings on Brazilian culture. It is considered among others those of Fernando de Azevedo, Renato Ortiz e Maria Isaura Pereira de Queiroz.Finally, it discusses the current perspective of cultural studies in Brazil under theoretical and methodological aspects.

On tient compte, simultanement, des sources théoriques oü se fondent les textes analisés. on discute le thème dans la perspective d’une sociologie de la culture qui prend en compte la diversité des aspects du système culturel.On propose, d’abord, comme incluses dans la catégorie, les analyses conceptuelles, les études sur les manifestations de la structure sociale faites surtout dans l’optique de la dimension culturelle; les essais de caracterisation de la culture brésilienne.On adopte une périodisation qui suppose des étapes dans lesquelles on a formé la pensée sociologique, en l’institutionalisant et en la consolidant de façon définitive. Pour chaque moment on signale un ouvrage répresentatif; on tient compte, successivement, de textes de Silvio Romero, Gilberto Freyre et Antônio Cândido.On dédie une attention spéciale aux écrits sociologiques des Fernando Azevedo, Renato Ortiz e Maria Isaura Pereira de Queiroz.On discute, enfin, la perspective actuelle, les aspects théoriques et méthodologiques des études culturelies au Brésil.O trabalho examina, de um ponto de vista diacrônico, a explanação de temas culturais dentro do pensamento social brasileiro. Levam-se em conta, simultaneamente, as fontes teóricas em que se fundamentam os textos analisados. Discute-se o assunto na perspectiva de uma Sociologia da Cultura que toma em consideração a diversidade de aspectos do sistema cultural.Propõem-se, preliminarmente, como incluídos na categoria, as análises conceituais; os estudos sobre manifestações culturais; as interpretações da estrutura social feitas predominantemente sob o ângulo da dimensão cultural; os ensaios de caracterização da cultura brasileira.Anota-se uma periodização que supõe etapas em que se forma o pensamento sociológico, em que este transita para a institucionalização e em que se consolida de forma definitiva. Para cada momento, assinala-se uma obra representativa, sob o ponto de vista cultural; apreciam-se, sucessivamente, textos de Silvio Romero, Gilberto Freyre e Antônio Cândido.Especial atenção se dedica, a seguir, aos escritos de natureza sociológica voltados para o tema da cultura brasileira.
