Trata-se de indivíduos que dividem sua atividade jornalística com intervenções em outros espaços sociais (literatura, universidade, engajamento político, etc.) convencionalmente associados a representações social do intelectual. Analisaram-se o modo como negociam suas práticas e estatutos no mundo social dos jornalistas. Para isso, foram selecionadas dez pessoas, cuja reputação obedecia a critérios de notoriedade intelectual e pertencimento ao meio jornalístico: Adísia Sá, Alberto Dines, Antônio Hohfeldt, Carlos Chagas, Carlos Heitor Cony, Flávio Tavares, Juremir Machado da Silva, Mino Carta, Raimundo Pereira e Zuenir Ventura. A esse corpus de pesquisa aplicou-se o método de análise das histórias de vida. As narrativas foram coletadas por meio das técnicas de entrevista semi-estruturadas e pesquisa documental (entrevistas, biografias e livros produzidos sobre e por esses indivíduos). A investigação, estruturada a partir de conceitos oriundos do interacionismo simbólico foi dividida em quatro partes. Abordou-se, antes de tudo, valores e ideologias partilhados por essas pessoas. Num segundo momento, foram trabalhadas as formas de apresentação de si, gestão estatutária e concepção das carreiras profissionais por ocasião das interações face-a-face com pesquisador. A seguir foram analisadas as escolhas e a construção da reputação do entrevistado nas relações com demais atores do mundo dos jornalistas. Finalmente as histórias de vida foram situadas marco-sociologicamente dentro dos processos de transformação, segmentação e continuidade que afetam o jornalismo, nas suas relações com as atividades intelectuais. A partir dessas instâncias foi possível entender como a identidade desses atores se constrói a partir de diferentes processos interativos de forma que se constituam, aos olhos do observador, como um grupo de jornalistas-intelectuais. ___________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTThe objective of this essay is to analyze the identity construction process of a group of actors called "intellectual-journalists". It deals with individuals that divide their journalistic activities with interventions in other social environments (literature, university, political engagement, etc.) associated conventionally to social representations of the intellectual. The form these individuals negotiate their practices and statutes in the social world of the journalists was analyzed. Ten people were selected, whose reputation obeyed intellectual notoriety and journalistic environment belonging criteria: Adísia Sá, Alberto Dines, Antônio Hohfeldt, Carlos Chagas, Carlos Heitor Cony, Flávio Tavares, Juremir Machado da Silva, Mino Carta, Raimundo Pereira and Zuenir Ventura. The method of life story analysis was applied. The narratives were collected, especially, by means of semi-directed interview and documental research techniques (interviews, biographies and books produced about and by these individuals). The investigation, structured starting from concepts arising from the symbolic interacionismo was divided in four parts. At first, value and ideologies shared by these persons were approached. Second it was worked the forms of presentation of itself, statutory management and conception of the professional careers by occasion of the interactions face to face with researcher. Following that, the choices and the building of the reputation of the interviewee in the relations with the other actors of the journalists' world were analyzed. Finally the life stories were situated sociologically within the transformation, segmentation and continuity processes that affect journalism, in its relations with the intellectual activities.
