Este estudo teve como objetivos desvelar a vivência da morte e do morrer na prática educativa do enfermeiro docente com o acadêmico de Enfermagem no campo hospitalar; compreender o significado do existir humano para o enfermeiro docente e, conhecer as formas de abordagem sobre a morte adotadas por docentes de Enfermagem em Instituições de Ensino Superior. Pesquisa fenomenológica desenvolvida em três Cursos de Graduação em Enfermagem, localizados no município de Goiânia-GO. Foram entrevistados doze docentes no período de outubro de 2006 a março de 2007. De posse dos depoimentos integralmente transcritos emergentes da experiência vivida de cada docente, encaminhei-me para análise que foi realizada em busca do invariante, das convergências, ou seja, da essência das falas de cada sujeito. A leitura atentiva dos dizeres dos sujeitos da investigação à luz do pensamento da ontologia existencial de Martim Heidegger, foi fundamental para a compreensão dos diferentes modos de como o processo da morte vai se mostrando ao docente nas diversas formas de estar-ensinando e de estar-aprendendo. Os resultados deram origem a três categorias temáticas: “o significado da temporalidade do existir do homem”; “vivenciar a morte e o morrer com acadêmicos” e “educar para cuidar da pessoa no processo de morte: é possível?”, que apontaram para a falta de preparo e habilidade dos docentes para a vivência com o estudante em lidar com as questões da morte e do morrer. Revelaram que a formação em relação ao tema é superficial, breve e sem conexão com as disciplinas curriculares. Este estudo permitiu uma reflexão sobre o ensinar a cuidar do ser-morrendo. Sugiro construir competências e habilidades, para um cuidar singular e integral, dirigidos não somente à cura, mas a uma re-dimensão diante da vida, onde a morte deve ser visualizada como parte da existência. _______________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACTImportant studies were carried out in the last years as for the necessity to think about forms of teaching to take care of the individual in the process of the death, but still insufficient in order to stimulate transformations in practice of taking care before the person in his finitude. The objective of this study was to reveal the existence of the death and the act of dying in educational practice of the nurse teacher with the academic of Nursing in the hospital field and to understand the meaning of the act of existing in humans for the nurse teacher and the forms of approach on death adopted by professors of Nursing in Institutions of Superior Teaching. Phenomenological study developed in three courses of Nursing located in Goiânia- GO. Twelve professors were interviewed in the period of October of 2006 to March of 2007. In possession of the integrally transcribed testimonies, emergent of the experience lived by each teacher; I set out for analysis which was carried out in search of the invariant and of the convergences, in other words, of the essence of the words of each person. The attentive reading of the words of the subject of the investigation considering the thought of the existential ontology by Martin Heidegger was basic for the understanding of the different ways of how the process of the death is appearing to teachers in several forms of being-teaching and of being-learning. Three thematic categories had originated from the results: "the meaning of the temporality of the act of existing of the man", "to experience the death and the act of dying with academics" and to educate to take care of the person in the death and in dying: is it possible?" This pointed to the lack of preparation and skill of the teachers in the existence of the student to deal with the questions of the death and of dying. They showed that the formation regarding the subject is superficial, short and without connection with curricular subjects. This study allowed a reflection on teaching how to take care of the dying person.
