Access to basic sanitation in Ceará and its relationship with development and poverty

This study seeks to elaborate a panorama of access to water and sewage in the state of Ceará, in the light of the multidimensional concepts of development and poverty. Bibliographic and documentary research was carried out, in addition to the collection, tabulation, description and analysis of data and information on the situation of access to basic sanitation services, as well as indicators of development and poverty. As a result, it was found that inadequate hypotheses or even the absence of sanitation services still persist, especially for the poorest people. When analyzing the data by income group, it was possible to verify that the residences of the poorest populations have a greater lack of this basic infrastructure. The results also show that, throughout the historical series analyzed for Ceará, there were no significant changes in the considered indicators, being the services of collection and treatment of sewage the most deficient.
