Who and where are the PHD'S in regional development?

Resumo: | This study is developed within a framework of continuous growth and consolidation of postgraduate in Brazil, focusing on a specific area, Regional Development and its PhDs. The objective was to identify who and where PHDs in regional development work professionally. The descriptive research with a quantitative approach, collected data between 2005 and 2020 on the platforms Lattes, Sucupira and on the websites of PPGs stricto sensu of Regional Development. The results show that since the first thesis defended in 2005, two hundred and seventy-one PhDs have been titled by the end of 2020. There was a predominance of people born in Brazil, male, graduated in Administration, Economic Sciences and Accounting Sciences, masters in Development, Administration and Economics. Regarding professional insertion, 74.9% have an active professional bond, 42.4% work in public employee and 65.6% in higher education institutions. In terms of geographic location, 61.2% work in four states and 64.1% in two Brazilian regions. It was concluded that obtaining the title of doctor made it possible for PhDs to enter the job market, especially in higher education, and there was a strong contribution of the programs in the training of research professors. University education.Este estudio se desarrolla en un marco de continuo crecimiento y consolidación del posgrado en Brasil, centrándose en un área específica, el Desarrollo Regional y sus egresados. El objetivo fue identificar quiénes y dónde trabajan profesionalmente los doctores en desarrollo regional. La investigación descriptiva con enfoque cuantitativo, recopiló datos entre 2005 y 2020 en las plataformas Lattes, Sucupira y en los sitios web de los PPG stricto sensu de Desarrollo Regional. Los resultados muestran que desde la primera tesis defendida en 2005, se han titulado doscientos setenta y un doctores al final de 2020. Hubo un predominio de personas nacidas en Brasil, hombres, graduados en Administración, Ciencias Económicas y Ciencias Contables, Maestría en Desarrollo, Administración y Economía. En cuanto a la inserción profesional, el 74,9 % tiene vínculo profesional activo, el 42,4 % trabaja en funcionario público y el 65,6 % en instituciones de educación superior. En cuanto a la ubicación geográfica, el 61,2% trabaja en cuatro estados y el 64,1% en dos regiones brasileñas. Se concluyó que la obtención del título de doctor posibilitó la inserción de los egresados en el mercado laboral, especialmente en la educación superior, y hubo una fuerte contribución de los programas en la formación de profesores investigadores. Enseñanza superior.Este estudo desenvolve-se dentro de um quadro de contínuo crescimento e consolidação da pós-graduação no Brasil, focado em uma área específica, o Desenvolvimento Regional, e, nela, os seus egressos. O objetivo central foi identificar quem são e onde profissionalmente atuam os doutores em desenvolvimento regional. A pesquisa descritiva com abordagem quantitativa, coletou dados entre 2005 e 2020 nas plataformas Lattes, Sucupira e nos sites dos PPGs stricto sensu de Desenvolvimento Regional. Os resultados mostram que desde a primeira tese defendida em 2005, duzentos e setenta e um doutores foram titulados até o final do ano de 2020. Constatou-se a predominância de pessoas nascidas no Brasil, do gênero masculino, graduados em Administração, Ciências Econômicas e Ciências Contábeis, mestres em Desenvolvimento, Administração e Economia. No que tange à inserção profissional, 74,9% possuem vínculo profissional ativo, 42,4% atuam em entidades públicas e 65,6% em instituições de ensino superior. Em termos de localização geográfica, 61,2% exercem atividades laborais em quatro Estados e 64,1% em duas regiões brasileiras. Concluiu-se que a obtenção do título de doutor possibilitou a inserção dos egressos no mercado de trabalho, principalmente no ensino superior, e verificou-se forte contribuição dos PPGs na formação de docentes pesquisadores.
