Environmental perception in the construction of sustainable rural development: an evaluation with family farmers in the rural community of Malhada – Crato/CE

Resumo: The objective of the research is to estimate the environmental perception of family farmers from the Association of Rural Producers of São Silvestre Farm, a rural community of Malhada, in Crato-Ceará. The methodology used exploratory-descriptive analysis, with data collected from primary research, with the application of a semi-structured questionnaire. The Environmental Perception Index was calculated, comprising three dimensions: perception of habits and social consumption (IPHCS); perception of the environmental impact of economic activity (IPIAAE); perception of the environmental impact of agricultural activity on labor (IPIAMO). The results point to an intermediate value of the farmers' environmental perception both in the general index (IPA equal to 0.631) and in the IPHCS and IPIAMO indexes, with values of 0.767 and 0.742, respectively. The dimension perception of the impacts of economic activity (agriculture) had the lowest value (0.444). Despite the IPA presenting results at an intermediate level, with emphasis on the low result for IPIAAE, environmental perception is a permanent construction. Keywords: Environmental perception. Environment.El objetivo de la investigación es estimar la percepción ambiental de los agricultores familiares de la Asociación de Agricultores Agrícolas de São Silvestre, del Sítio Malhada, en Crato-Ceará. La metodología utilizó análisis exploratorio-descriptivo, con datos recolectados de investigación primaria, con la aplicación de un cuestionario semiestructurado. Se calculó el Índice de Percepción Ambiental compuesto por tres dimensiones: percepción de hábitos sociales y consumo (IPHCS); percepción del impacto ambiental de la actividad económica (IPIAAE); Percepción del impacto ambiental de la actividad agraria sobre el trabajo (IPIAMO). Los resultados apuntan a un valor intermedio de percepción ambiental de los agricultores tanto en el índice general (IPA igual a 0,631), como en los índices IPHCS e IPIAMO, con valores de 0,767 y 0,742, respectivamente. La dimensión impactos percibidos de la actividad económica (agricultura) tuvo el valor más bajo (0,444). Si bien el IPA presenta resultados en un nivel intermedio, con énfasis en el resultado bajo para IPIAAE, la percepción ambiental es una construcción permanente. Palavras clave: Percepción ambiental. A dimensão percepção dos impactos da atividade econômica (agricultura) apresentou o valor mais baixo (0,444).
