Resumo: | This article aims to analyze the historical process pertinent to the establishment of the municipality of Canoinhas (SC) and to reveal the role played by the founder of the municipality from a perspective that transcends the idea of pioneer and reconstructs its multiplicity of relationships. In order to do so, the region on canvas is conceived as a border region, which allows one to examine the clashes and their tragic aspects, which have resulted in genocides or bloody class struggles. Official and journalistic sources were analyzed, making possible the construction of an alternative narrative to the official one, in which the natives are no longer invisible and the pioneer is not heroic. It is concluded that the historical process that resulted in the emergence of the municipality of Canoinhas was the result of a series of intense conflicts that affected indigenous populations and other groups that wanted to control the region. Keywords: Contestado. Indigenous. Pioneer. |
