Resumo: ABSTRACT: Empoasca kraemeri (Hemiptera: Cicadellidae) is a pest of the sweet potato crop. Its control demands applications of synthetic insecticides, which causes the emergence of pest resistance to these products and contamination of the environment. Thus, the use of essential oils is an alternative for insect control. However, the present study aimed to evaluate the bioactivity of Neem oil on E. kraemeri. The bioactivity of Neem oil on E. kraemeri was evaluated under laboratory conditions. To verify the effect of leaves of Ipomea potatoes were sprayed at concentrations 6.0; 3.0; 1.5; 0.75 and 0.25 ul L-1 supplied to adults. The controls were sprayed with distilled water. The design was completely randomized with six treatments and five replications with twenty insects per leaf. The experiment was maintained, in the laboratory, at 25 ± 2 ° C; RH of 50 ± 10% and photophase of 12. The extract caused adult mortality, reducing the survival of E. kraemeri. There was a mortality of 70% to 100%, demonstrating the contact action of the compound and its potential for control of the leafhopper. In view of the results obtained, it was possible to conclude that Neem oil caused significant mortality on adults of Cigarrinha E. kraemeri. KEYWORDS: Bioactive, Control, Integrated pest management.
