Resumo: Pibid Scholars who work at the Visconde de Carandaí School, which belongs to a quilombola community, developed a project on how the knowledge of the ancestors' histories can build narratives in Elementary School. This research has the general objective of building narratives about local history in an elementary school class located in a quilombola area. The methodological procedures used to compose this topic can be summarized in bibliographic, documental, and explanatory research, the research resulted in the importance of exploring and capturing cohesive information regarding the Candendês community. As a partial research result, it is possible to notice that by enabling students to have contact and knowledge of the history of their ancestors in a way that allows them to be the protagonists of the construction of these narratives, the acquisition of historical literacy and knowledge of self will have a propitious scenario. It is considered, then, that the work of Pibid trainees can be designed to propose activities that dynamically provide students with meaningful learning. It also highlights the possibility of reinvention of the teacher in adapting to historical moments, such as the Covid-19 pandemic and creating new teaching possibilities.
