The concept of gender in contemporary Brazilian antifeminist thought

Resumo: This article intends to analyze how the concept of “gender” is understood in contemporary Brazilian anti-feminist thought and explore its possible effects for the field of education. Starting from feminist and poststructuralist studies, this article discusses antifeminism from the book Feminismo: perversão e subversão, by Ana Caroline Campagnolo (2019). Three feminist thinkers stand out in the anti-feminist narrative with regard to the discussion of the concept of “gender”: Mary Wollstonecraft, Simone de Beauvoir and Judith Butler. It is concluded that the antifeminist narrative delegates to nature a fundamental role in the differentiation between “feminine” and “masculine”, denying “gender” as a concept.

Se concluye que la narrativa antifeminista delega a la naturaleza un papel fundamental en la diferenciación entre “femenino” y “masculino”, negando el “género” como concepto.Este artigo pretende analisar como o conceito de “gênero” é compreendido no pensamento antifeminista brasileiro contemporâneo e explorar seus possíveis efeitos para o campo da educação.
