Resumo: Pedro Demo is one of the most important Brazilian specialists in the fields of sociology and scientific methodology applied to the Social Sciences. We base and transcribe, here, the interview with him carried out in July 2021, with the objective of unfolding the phenomenon of scientific literacy in Brazil, from his experiences and experiences. His university career took place mainly at the University of Brasília, where he retired as a full professor in the Department of Sociology and in the postgraduate program in Human Rights. He did postdoctoral work at the University of California and was Assistant Secretary General at the Ministry of Education. In the interview, the prestigious intellectual deals with several aspects related to his career and the respective lines of research, education and teaching and the promotion of science in a national and international context, addressing standards, controversies and critical inflections in different dimensions of scientific work such as social practice and, therefore, a means of its transformation. The notions of political quality and formal quality of evaluation as an indicator of educational praxis were repeated.

Su carrera universitaria se desarrolló principalmente en la Universidad de Brasilia, donde se jubiló como profesor titular en el Departamento de Sociología y en el programa de posgrado en Derechos Humanos. Realizó un trabajo posdoctoral en la Universidad de California y fue Secretario General Adjunto en el Ministerio de Educación. En la entrevista, el prestigioso intelectual aborda varios aspectos relacionados con su trayectoria y las respectivas líneas de investigación, educación y docencia y la promoción de la ciencia en un contexto nacional e internacional, abordando estándares, controversias e inflexiones críticas en distintas dimensiones del quehacer científico. como práctica social y, por tanto, medio de su transformación. Se repitieron las nociones de calidad política y calidad formal de la evaluación como indicador de la praxis educativa.Pedro Demo é um dos mais importantes especialistas brasileiros nos campos da sociologia e da metodologia científica aplicada às Ciências Sociais. Sua carreira universitária ocorreu, principalmente, na Universidade de Brasília, na qual se aposentou como professor titular no Departamento Sociologia e no programa de pós-graduação em Direitos Humanos. Realizou pós-doutoramento na Universidade da Califórnia e foi secretário-geral adjunto do Ministério da Educação. Na entrevista, o prestigioso intelectual trata de diversos aspectos relacionados à carreira e às respectivas linhas de pesquisa, à educação e ao ensino e à promoção da ciência em contexto nacional e internacional, abordando padrões, controvérsias e inflexões críticas em diferentes dimensões do fazer científico como prática social e, portanto, meio de sua transformação.
