Resumo: Just like the monuments graffitied in public squares, books that until recently were considered untouchable run the risk of suffering a cancellation campaign, based on reductionist readings. Due to its complexity and historical context, the racial issue is perfect for exploring the contradictions, not only of Euclides da Cunha, but of an entire theoretical framework imported to the tropics, both in the past and today.
