Biographic space of Saquinho: the homes of elderly women, the (auto)biographic knowledge and the domains of the self

This article discusses the representation that the house has as a biographical space of the life trajectories of five elderly women from the rural community of Saquinho,county of Inhambupe (BA). The women's houses have a historical and sociocultural legacy built by each of them. For data collection, qualitative research was used, with emphasis on ethnographic and biographical methods, as well as the appropriation and use of narrative interviews. For writing and data analysis, we sought to dialogue with Bacherlard (2008), Delory-Momberger (2012), Pereira (2008; 2014), Pineau (2006), Certeau, (1996), among other theorists. When analyzing the textual excerpts selected for the text, it can be seen that the house is essentially built as a biographical space, since in it each family member is inscribed as an author and a main protagonist. It is in the house that the daily struggles begin and resume. The houses are built as a place of power, protection and dominion. It is evident in the narratives of the elderly women that the house has a special meaning, taking on personal meanings that go beyond the concept of mere physical space.
