Multilingual teaching and literacy for people deprived of freedom: the experience of remedy through multilingual reading

Resumo: This work aims to analyze the influence of participation in redemption through reading on the way in which the process of literacy and multilingual teaching occurs within the prison context. The investigation seeks to answer the research problem: to what extent is the proposal of reading bilingual/multilingual works in reading relief a motivating factor in learning English, Spanish, among others? Regarding methodology, the research was descriptive and qualitative in nature and consisted of bibliographical and documentary research. Among the documents analyzed are the Ordinance of the Judiciary and the bilingual/multilingual Remission Project drawn up based on data from a research from the Post-doctoral Internship of the Post-Graduate Program in Cultural Criticism at the State University of Bahia (UNEB) which worked in 2022 on aspects related to inclusion through reading literary works and textual production in prison; and also quarterly reports on educational activities implemented in the prison unit that enable a better understanding of the preparation and implementation of a proposal for reading bilingual/multilingual books. The results indicate that the literacy proposed in the Redemption Project occurs at different levels and participation in redemption through reading is a motivating factor for learning a foreign language within the prison unit researched, with a correspondence between the foreign language (English or Spanish) of the chosen novel and the language intended for the exam to be taken (ENEM and ENCCEJA).

A investigação busca responder ao problema de pesquisa: até que ponto a proposta de leitura de obras bilíngues/multilíngues na remição por leitura é fator de motivação na aprendizagem de Língua Inglesa, Língua Espanhola, dentre outras? Quanto a metodologia, a pesquisa foi descritiva e de natureza qualitativa e consistiu numa pesquisa bibliográfica e documental. Dentre os documento analisados estão Portaria do Poder Judiciário e Projeto de Remição Bilingue/Multilíngue elaborado a partir dos dados de uma pesquisa do Estágio Pós-doutoral do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Crítica Cultural da Universidade do Estado da Bahia (UNEB) que trabalhou em 2022 aspectos referentes a inclusão através da leitura de obras literárias e produção textual na prisão; além dos relatórios trimestrais das atividade educacionais implementadas na unidade prisional que possibilitam uma melhor compreensão da elaboração e implementação de uma proposta de leitura de obras bilíngues/multilíngues.
