Resumo: : This research contributes to studies in the field of Sociology of Education that seek to understand the possible inequalities in the teaching-learning process of students in territories with a high concentration of poverty (ALVES, FRANCO, RIBEIRO, 2008). The aim was to investigate the expectations of managers and teachers about student learning. The research was carried out in four municipal schools of Rio de Janeiro, located in a territory with poverty concentration, in the North Zone of this city. The qualitative research methodology comprehended semi-structured interviews with managers and teachers, classroom observation, and observation of the fourth Class Council in one of the schools. The results stated an association between the expectations of managers and teachers about the students’ continuity of schooling with the perceptions that these professionals presented concerning the students’ place of residence.

El objetivo era investigar las expectativas de directivos y profesores sobre el aprendizaje de los alumnos. La investigación se llevó a cabo en cuatro escuelas de la Red Municipal de Educación de Río de Janeiro, ubicadas en un territorio contiguo de concentración de pobreza, en la Zona Norte de este municipio. La metodología se insertó en el campo de la investigación cualitativa, comprendiendo entrevistas semiestructuradas con directivos y docentes, observación en el aula y observación del cuarto Consejo de Clase de una de las escuelas participantes. Los resultados apuntan a una asociación entre las expectativas de directivos y docentes sobre la continuidad de la escolarización de los estudiantes con las percepciones que estos profesionales presentan en relación al lugar de residencia de los estudiantes.RESUMO: Essa pesquisa soma-se aos estudos no campo da Sociologia da Educação que buscam compreender as possíveis desigualdades no processo de ensino-aprendizagem de alunos em territórios com alta concentração de pobreza (ALVES, FRANCO, RIBEIRO, 2008). Teve-se por objetivo investigar as expectativas de gestores e professores sobre a aprendizagem dos alunos. A pesquisa foi realizada em quatro escolas da Rede Municipal de Educação do Rio de Janeiro, localizadas em um território contíguo de concentração de pobreza, na Zona Norte deste município. A metodologia inseriu-se no campo da pesquisa qualitativa, comportando entrevistas semiestruturadas com gestores e professores, observação de aulas e observação do quarto Conselho de Classe de uma das escolas participantes. Os resultados apontaram para associação entre as expectativas de gestores e professores sobre a continuidade de escolarização dos alunos com as percepções que esses profissionais apresentaram em relação ao local de moradia dos estudantes.  UNEMAT Editora2022-07-19info:eu-repo/semantics/articleinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersionapplication/pdfhttps://periodicos.unemat.br/index.php/ppgedu/article/view/5739Revista da Faculdade de Educação; V. 36 nº 2 (2021): (AGO/DEZ); 65-872178-7476reponame:Revista da Faculdade de Educação (Universidade do Estado de Mato Grosso.
