Economic uses of language: a look at the regional languages spoken in the informal market of Mutundo

Resumo: This article focuses on the advantages of using the region's languages in the informal trade context. The study seeks to explore the close relationship between language and economy in multilingual PALOPs communities, with the aim of assessing the impact, motivations and benefits of the use of mother tongues in trade with economic agents in the informal market of Mutundo, Huíla province. The analysis of the data obeyed a criterion of an empirical, quantitative-descriptive-exploratory nature. And from the results obtained, it was possible to conclude that the benefits are the generation of higher profits or lower prices of goods or services on offer. On the other hand, it aims to promote, disseminate, share our regional cultures, other ethnicities or even learn these languages.

El estudio busca explorar la relación entre lengua y economía en comunidades PALOP multilingües, con el objetivo de evaluar el impacto, motivaciones y beneficios del uso de lenguas maternas en los intercambios comerciales con agentes económicos en el mercado informal de Mutundo, provincia de Huila. El análisis de los datos siguió un criterio empírico cuantitativo-descriptivo-exploratorio. Y de los resultados obtenidos se pudo concluir que los beneficios son la generación de mayores ganancias o una reducción en el precio de los bienes o servicios ofertados. Por otro lado, pretende promover, difundir y compartir nuestras culturas regionales con otras etnias o incluso en el aprendizaje de estas lenguas.O presente artigo debruça sobre as vantagens  do uso das línguas regionais no contexto comercial informal. O estudo procura explorar a relação ocorrente entre a língua e economia em comunidades PALOPs multilingue, com o objectivo de aferir o impacto, as motivações e os benefícios do uso das línguas maternas nas trocas comerciais junto dos agentes económicos do mercado informal do Mutundo, província da Huíla. A análise dos dados obedeceu um critério de carácter empírico quantitativo-descritivo-exploratório. E dos resultados obtidos permitiu concluir que os benefícios são de geração de maiores lucros ou de baixa de preço de bens ou serviços em oferta.
