Historical sources and new technologies in teaching the history of education about the Empire of Brazil

Resumo: The present paper is aimed at reflecting on the possibilities of use of historical sources allied to some newtechnologies in teaching the subject history of education in undergraduate courses, primarily focusing on thediscussion of a specific content/period of the Brazilian educational past: the history of school and schooling inthe imperial period (1822-1889). The argument is divided into four parts. While considering the teaching ofhistory of education about the Empire of Brazil, the possibilities of use of the 19th century periodical press andsocial networks are initially discussed, followed by the use of the imperial educational legislation combinedwith online collaborative forms and, subsequently, the use of 19th century school textbooks available on theworld wide web. In the fourth and last part, some considerations are made by way of conclusion.

Siempre teniendo en cuenta la enseñanza de la historia de la educación sobre el Imperio de Brasil, inicialmente, se discuten las posibilidades de utilizar la prensa periódica del siglo XIX y las redes sociales; luego, el uso de la legislación educativa imperial acompañada de formularios colaborativos en línea; más tarde, el uso de libros de texto escolares del siglo XIX disponibles en la red mundial. Al final, en la cuarta parte, se hacen algunas consideraciones, a modo de conclusión.O objetivo deste artigo é refletir sobre as possibilidades do uso de fontes históricas aliadas a algumas novas tecnologias no ensino da disciplina história da educação em cursos de licenciatura, focando-se, em particular, na discussão de um conteúdo/período específico do passado educacional brasileiro: a história da escola e da escolarização na era imperial (1822-1889). A argumentação divide-se em quatro momentos. Tendo sempre em mente o ensino de história da educação sobre o Brasil Império, inicialmente, são discutidas as possibilidades do uso da imprensa periódica oitocentista e das redes sociais; em seguida, a utilização da legislação educacional imperial acompanhada de formulários colaborativos online; posteriormente o emprego de manuais escolares oitocentistas disponíveis na rede mundial de computadores.
