Resumo: Given the demands of society, there is the evolution of investment in higher education in recent years in Brazil. The aim of the study was to identify factors that influence the performance indicators of higher education. Data were collected through the websites of government agencies. The methodology used was quantitative, using multiple linear regression. The sample was composed by 52 federal universities and the analysis period 2009-2011. The results indicate that the variable 'cost per student' influences the IGC in all periods. The indicators ENADE e CPC are influenced by the 'number of students' only in 2009.

El objetivo de este estudio fue identificar factores que influyen en los indicadores de rendimiento de la educación superior. Los datos fueron recogidos por medio de los sitios de las entidades gubernamentales. La metodología utilizada fue cuantitativa, utilizando la regresión lineal múltiple. La muestra está compuesta por 52 universidades federales, considerando el período analizado de 2009 a 2011. Los resultados apuntan que la variable ‘coste por alumno’ influencia el IGC en todos los periodos. Ya los indicadores CPC y ENADE son influenciados por el ‘número de alumnos’ solamente en 2009. Diante das exigências da sociedade, nota-se a evolução dos investimentos em educação superior nos últimos anos no Brasil. O objetivo do estudo foi identificar fatores que influenciam nos indicadores de desempenho da educação superior. Os dados foram coletados por meio dos sítios das entidades governamentais. A metodologia utilizada foi quantitativa, utilizando a regressão linear múltipla. Compôs a amostra 52 universidades federais, sendo o período analisado de 2009 a 2011. Os resultados apontam que a variável ‘custo por aluno’ influencia o IGC em todos os períodos.
