Pedagogical experience: an analysis of commercial ads with Portuguese Physical Education students

Resumo: This study has the objective of describing a pedagogical experience with Physical Education students taking the Sports' Science course at the Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, in Portugal. For such purpose, a sociocultural frame of reference, as well as 'dense description', are used as a start point, which characterises an eminently qualitative discussion. In the pedagogical experience, two commercial ads were analysed. In one of them, the image of the body is associated to a new shopping mall, while in the other a women's football league is advertised. The analysis of images and messages spread by media is essential for the students to make a critical interpretation of such productions and have an effective intervention in the future. From the analysis of commercial ads, elements were identified which compose the building of sense and lead the reader to support the advertised idea. The pedagogical experience resulted in a reflection on the making up of commercial ads and a questioning of social relations.

The pedagogical experience resulted in a reflection on the making up of commercial ads and a questioning of social relations.Este trabalho tem como objetivo descrever uma experiência pedagógica junto a estudantes de educação física do curso de Ciências do Desporto da Faculdade de Motricidade Humana, em Portugal. Para isso, parte-se de referencial sociocultural e da “descrição densa”, caracterizando uma discussão eminentemente qualitativa. Na experiência pedagógica foram analisados dois anúncios publicitários. Em um deles, a imagem do corpo é associada a um novo shopping center e, no outro, é anunciado um campeonato de futebol feminino. A análise de imagens e mensagens difundidas pela mídia é fundamental para que os estudantes possam fazer uma interpretação crítica dessas produções e terem uma atuação futura efetiva. Identificou-se, a partir da análise dos anúncios publicitários, elementos que compõem a construção do sentido e que orientam o leitor a apoiar a idéia anunciada.
