PRESERVATION OF PIAUÍ'S RAILWAY CULTURAL HERITAGE, A MATTER OF HOUSING

Resumo: The Railway Cultural Heritage is dealt with in this article from the residential buildings located along Line 01 of the old Estrada de Ferro Central do Piauí, state in the Northeast of Brazil, where it was observed that most of the village houses identified in the Inventory made carried out by the federal preservation institution maintained its housing function. A permanence that reached the 21st century and that stimulates reflection on dwelling in the heritage, understanding this sociocultural phenomenon as a way to enhance the value of buildings, the function of housing and its inhabitants. The approach starts from the characterization of these buildings and the analysis of the relationship that establish the policies of preservation and housing related to the railroad heritage.

The approach starts from the characterization of these buildings and the analysis of the relationship that establish the policies of preservation and housing related to the railroad heritage.O Patrimônio Cultural Ferroviário é tratado neste artigo a partir das edificações residenciais localizadas na Linha 01 da antiga Estrada de Ferro do Piauí, estado do Nordeste do Brasil, onde se observou que grande parte das casas de vila identificadas no Inventário de Bens Imóveis realizado pela instituição de preservação federal manteve sua função de moradia. Uma permanência que chegou ao século XXI e que estimula a reflexão sobre o habitar no patrimônio, entendendo esse fenômeno sociocultural como caminho para valorização das edificações, da função de moradia e seus habitantes.
