Resumo: O objetivo deste artigo é destacar que o MST para se constituir como movimento social se usou basicamente de conteúdos discursivos vindos da política, religiosidade popular e religião para convocar seus participantes a construir um laço social e assim delimitar fronteiras políticas necessárias para sua constituição, de modo a mostrar à sociedade como os brasileiros são capazes de construir seu campo da política de acordo com seus referenciais históricos, políticos, culturais e religiosos. Para isso, destacamos os elementos religiosos e políticos (Teologia da Libertação; Religiosidade Popular, Teologia Pentecostal e o Marxismo) que se apresentam no movimento de maneira sincrética no caso dos elementos religiosos, pois mesclam diferentes teologias em sua estruturação e no caso dos elementos políticos chamamos de marxismo do MST.
