Resumo: Este artigo tem como objetivo trazer a lume uma abordagem sobre as comunidades indígenas no Nordeste, demonstrando, através dos Xukuru do Ororubá, povo indígena habitantes no município de Pesqueira (Pernambuco), o processo de defesa e de relações materiais e imateriais existentes em seu território. Com isso, será analisada como as Assembleias Xukuru, realizadas desde 2001, representam um elemento central para a construção da identidade territorial dos Xukuru do Ororubá.
